Streetwise Driving School - Motorcycle Instruction
Learn To Ride (LTR)
You wish to learn to ride from the beginning, you have not ridden before (except perhaps as a pillion, which is when the bug bit you!).  This session runs for about 2 hours and teaches you all the skills you need for the Basic Handling Skills Test.

Refresher
You may have ridden a farm or trail bike and feel you do not need to learn to ride from scratch. Or you may be riding an automatic and want to learn how to use a clutch. This session runs for about 1 hour.

Basic Handling Skills Test (BHS)
We find that few people can just turn up and pass the BHS test without additional coaching, that is why our test sessions last for1hr and include an assessment of your riding and time to practice lessons learnt.
  • Slow riding - ride at walking speed through a lane 0.75m wide and 18m long.
  • Routine stop - ride at a speed of approximately 20 km/h and then stop so the motorcycle's front wheel comes to rest within a marked square.
  • Cone weaving (slalom) - ride along a slalom course, weaving between cones placed 3.5m apart.
  • Quick stop - ride at a speed of approximately 20 km/h and then stop as quickly and safely as possible.
  • Riding a curve - ride up to a curve from a distance of 25m at a speed of 20 km/h. You must then give a turn signal, adjust your speed and ride around the curve (which is 2.5m wide), keeping within the lines all the way.
  • Stopping in the curve - ride up to a curve from a distance of 25m at a speed of 20 km/h. You must then adjust your speed, enter the curve and come to a stop within the curve.

Our combined LTR and BHS test sessions last for a maximum of 2.5hrs (after that trainees get too tired), if you need to come back and finish off another day you simply pay our returners fee.

Preparing for a driving test can be difficult when you do not know what to expect.  In these sessions we simulate a driving test for you and assess your driving.  We then give you pointers to improving your driving and helping you prepare for your test.

Practical Driving Assessments
When your company vehicles are being used by your employees you want to know that they are implementing safe driving habits.  Safe driving habits also promote reduced fuel consumption and less vehicle wear and tear.
